NEOA Board: Awards Review & Important Updates (Feb 3rd Meeting)

Hello NEOA Board! Is it just me, or does it feel like the 3rd Thursday of the week?!

Attached, please find the Excel sheet with the nominations for this year's NEOA awards.

A few current board members have been nominated for the Marian Belgrave-Howard Award. While these nominees are undoubtedly deserving of recognition for their dedication and years of service to NEOA, I strongly believe NEOA awards should be reserved for individuals who are not currently serving on the board. This approach aligns with best practices for governance, ensures transparency, and encourages inclusive recognition of contributors outside the current board. We can certainly explore ways to honor our dedicated board members in other meaningful ways after their service.

We will meet on Monday, February 3rd, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM to discuss the nominees listed in the attached document. Following our discussion, I will send out a survey for board members to vote on their nominee of choice, with voting closing on Wednesday, February 5th @ 11:59pm.

Considering recent events, I would also like to review a few additional items before we discuss the awards. Below is our agenda for next week's virtual meeting.
Agenda for Our Virtual Meeting - February 3rd:

  • 10:00am: Quick COE updates regarding this week's events
  • 10:05am: Discussion on sharing listserv with vendors
  • 10:15am: NEOA Awards Review
    *  Claiborne Pell Award
    • James T. Brett
    • Sheldon Whitehouse
      *  Shirley Chisholm Award
    • Angelica Vialpando
    • Sheldon Whitehouse (will confirm during the meeting which award he should be considered for)
      *  Marian Belgrave-Howard Award
    • Merrilyn Tatarczuch-Koff
    • Craig Werth
  • 10:50am: Q&A

Please let me know if you have any questions. Looking forward to our discussion!

Thank you!

Thank you, Yara! I am looking forward to meeting.

I read this during the COE GR meeting and this idea popped up so I figured I would share the thought.
What if we award both nominated person for Claiborne Pell Award? Both serve different and important roles right now as we maneuver and both have been supportive....might be powerful to have them both be presented the award and, ideally, attend together with our community... just an idea as I know it is not our practice (we only award 1 person in each award typically)

Sending you all lots of love.

Agreed, Gaelyn. There’s nothing that says we cannot do so, if that level of recognition is warranted for both candidates, this year.

Best,

Sarah

Subject: [NEOABOARD] NEOA Board: Awards Review & Important Updates (Feb 3rd Meeting)

Please be cautious

This email was sent from outside of your organization

Hello NEOA Board! Is it just me, or does it feel like the 3rd Thursday of the week?!

Attached, please find the Excel sheet with the nominations for this year’s NEOA awards.

We will meet on Monday, February 3rd, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM to discuss the nominees listed in the attached document. Following our discussion, I will send out a survey for board members to vote on their nominee of choice, with voting closing on Wednesday, February 5th @ 11:59pm.

Considering recent events, I would also like to review a few additional items before we discuss the awards. Below is our agenda for next week’s virtual meeting.

Agenda for Our Virtual Meeting – February 3rd:

  • 10:00am: Quick COE updates regarding this week’s events
  • 10:05am: Discussion on sharing listserv with vendors
  • 10:15am: NEOA Awards Review
 *   Claiborne Pell Award

    *   James T. Brett
    *   Sheldon Whitehouse

 *   Shirley Chisholm Award

    *   Angelica Vialpando
    * Sheldon Whitehouse (will confirm during the meeting which award he should be considered for)

 *   Marian Belgrave-Howard Award

    *   Merrilyn Tatarczuch-Koff
    *   Craig Werth
  • 10:50am: Q&A

Please let me know if you have any questions. Looking forward to our discussion!

Thank you!

Good morning! I have a chiro appt at 9:15 and then I need to get myself up to Worcester and into the office. I'd everything occurs on rime I'll be there. But might be a little late, as my chiro is awesome but loves to chat with her clients and is rarely on time.
