NEOA Board Vote Needed - TRIO Day Budget Adjustment

Hello NEOA Board of Directors,

After meeting with TRIO Day Co-Chairs and reviewing the TRIO Day Budget,
the committee is requesting the following budget changes outlined below.

*Proposed Budget Changes: *

Increase TRIO Day Entertainment line item.
- From: $1,000
- To: $1,500
- Reason: the committee is currently gathering quotes for
  entertainment. Last year’s expense for this line item was $1,500. Due
  to the rising costs of equipment and labor, Co-Chairs anticipate the need
  for increased budget in the event they receive a quote above $1,000.
Increase TRIO Day Speaker Expense line item.
- From: $1,000
- To: $1,500
- Reason: To cover quote for keynote speaker, Richard Haynes. The
  $1,500 fee reflects a significant discount as his standard
  speaking fee is
  $3,000. In addition to his keynote address, Haynes will also distribute
  prints of his artwork to students and will also serve as the
  Admissions Rep
  at the UNH table during the College Fair on Friday.

Each standing committee casts one vote. If your committee has
Co-Chairs, please designate one Co-Chair to submit the vote.
Only paid members are eligible to vote. Non-paid board members have
been sent several emails by the Membership committee in advance. *Votes
submitted by non-paid board members will not be counted. *

Thank you! Sorry, this may have been discussed at the board meeting last week, but I was not at the Friday session.

I am not sure the difference in the entertainment line items amounts necessitate a board vote, but I will defer to the finance committee and parliamentarian on that. Some expenditures will be above or below the specific line item.

Has Chris and the finance committee approved? Following the fiscal policieshttps://www.neoaonline.org/i_fiscal.php#:~:text=As%20a%20501%20(c)%20(,specifically%20authorized%20to%20do%20so. of the board, “The Finance Committee may recommend modifications to the annual budget as a result of changes in the Association's financial position or priorities during the course of the fiscal year. All suggested budget modifications must be presented to and approved by the chair of the finance committee and the Board prior to expenditure.”
