Hello Team,

Thank you for resending the press links and the information regarding the June 1st start date programs within our region-I really appreciate your quick follow-up.

Ahead of our upcoming Town Hall, I'd like to clarify a few important points for you to share with your state membership:

  • COE's planned litigation in defense of June 1st start date programs:
Relief from this legal action will only apply to institutions that have active COE Institutional Membership.
    *  This is not a decision made by COE-it is a legal requirement, as COE is a membership organization. COE cannot legally represent non-member institutions in litigation.
    *  Therefore, any program with a June 1 start date that is not currently a COE member is strongly encouraged to become a member by May 31 to be included in this legal effort.
    *  Programs with a September 1 start date are also encouraged to become members now. If funding is not released by September 1 for those programs, COE would need to initiate a separate lawsuit for those start-date programs.

Based on the information shared with me, it appears that the UB programs starting on June 1 are paid members, with the exception of two institutions from Connecticut. Vanessa Ramirez and I have already reached out to those institutions directly.

Please let me know of any other programs and if you have any further questions.

Best,
Yara Zoccarato

Thanks, Yara.

For what it’s worth, according to an attendee at COE’s proposal writing workshop (she’s referring to yesterday’s PWW):

“At the conclusion of today’s TS/EOC grant writing workshop, Angelica addressed the participants. She said, COE is confident the GAN’s for June 1 UB’s will be released on time. After McMahon’s testimony, she mentioned Senator Bennett from Colorado called ED to confirm. ED told him the GAN’s for June 1 UB’s will be out by May 31st”.

ED apparently stated that all the other GAN’s would be out by Sept. 1.

Best,

Sarah
