More Details
The New England Council’s policy staff has been closely monitoring ongoing developments this week related to President Trump’s intention to freeze federal grant and loan funding. As you know, the Administration announced Wednesday that it was rescinding the memo released earlier in the week, however subsequent statements from the White House have caused ongoing confusion.
We have been in contact with many New England Congressional offices over the last several days, who have expressed their own frustration with the lack of clarity from the White House and the widespread confusion that has resulted. As this situation continues to unfold, Congressional offices have indicated that they would welcome information on the potential impacts of this funding freeze to help inform their response and enable them to best advocate for the region.
To that end, the Council will be working over the coming days and weeks to collect and compile any feedback or examples our members would like to provide that we will then convey to our region’s Congressional offices. If you have information to share on how your business/organization, or your sector more broadly would be impacted by the possible funding freeze, please reply to this email. If you would prefer that any information you share NOT be attributed to your organization and only shared anonymously, we will accommodate that request.
Below, please find several resources related to this matter. The Council will continue to share any additional guidance or information that becomes available.
