Hello NEOA board members,
As I'm getting accustomed to our new listserv platform, it looks like the
messages are sometimes being sent to people's spam folders. I know it's
happened to a few people so far (myself included). I'm not surprised, as
it's a common problem with mailing list messages, and we had the same
problem on occasion with our previous list platform. I wanted to post a few
tips / solutions for how to prevent the messages from going into the spam
folder. First, you can add the board list address,
neoaboard@lists.neoaonline.org, to your contacts / address book. Second,
you can create a mail rule / filter in your mail program. The filter
critera should be set to find all messages where the "To:" field is set to "
neoaboard@lists.neoaonline.org", and the action should be to never mark the
message as spam or to put it in the inbox (the wording varies depending on
your mail platform / software). Another thing you can try is if you do find
a listserv message in your spam folder, open the message and use the option
to report that it's not spam. These three things should help deliver
messages to the inbox.
Some people may not get this message, so please fill free to pass this on
by word of mouth or by email to your colleagues in your office or in your
state. I am going to send a similar message to the NEOA membership list and
possibly get it posted on our Facebook page as well. Let me know if you
have any questions about using the new lists and I will help you.
